Facebook is the social network of choice for Swopshop, Temple Bar

Last week we wandered down to Swopshop in Temple Bar to speak to Adele Geoghegan, who owns the shop.

Swopshop is up and running over a year now and the idea behind it is simple – you swop something you won’t wear for something you will.

With the mix of Adele’s background in business and her acute eye for fashion, the shop is enjoying great success. Swopshop is booming not despite the recession but because of it.

She operates on a ‘bricks and clicks’ strategy with her shop presence in the Crowe Street Bazaar in Temple Bar, as well as her online presence and use of social media.

A great advocate of Facebook, Adele talks to us about the innovative things she is using Facebook for and how it benefits her business.

We were also lucky enough to be shown some of the lovely designer, vintage and high street pieces she has in the shop at the minute.

Her customer base is extremely eclectic and the swopping system provides a wonderful link between generations – a 60 year old woman might drop in to the shop in the morning with an array of her old clothes, only to be picked up in the evening by a 16 year old looking for a unique vintage piece.

Adele is a great speaker and passionate about what she does. Marvel at her energy and enjoy the tour through her lovely shop.
