PR people see salary falls
31 March 09

Seventy per cent of Irish public relations firms expect their fee income to decline this year, according to a new survey just completed.

Carried out by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, it also shows that 12.1pc think their income will actually rise. A total of 66.7pc expect the profits of their firms to fall, with 12.1pc again expecting to see a rise.

Most firms say they have laid off staff in the past six months, with cuts being as high as one staff member in two going. Pay cuts of up to 10pc have been implemented by one firm in three, with almost all other firms freezing wages.
