Fast food firms increase spend
31 March 09
Fast food chains are spending far more on advertising, according to OMD. There has been an increase of 19.7 per cent year on year for 2008 from 2007.
The top five spenders make up 91 per cent of the category and each of these have increased their advertising investment year on year - McDonald's +9.5 per cent, KFC +70.9 per cent, Burger King +19.7 per cent, Subway +36.6 per cent and Dominos +25.7 per cent.
OMD said forecasts for 2009 suggest it will match its impressive 2008 growth since this industry sector normally enjoys a sales lift during recessions.
