Media fund welcomes 'green' ideas
28 April 09

Comhar Sustainable Development Council (SDC) has launched its Media Fund for 2009, and is now accepting applications from journalists and media outlets.

The Sustainable Development Media Fund - now in its second year - is aimed at securing more and better media coverage of sustainability issues.  All applications must address at least one of four themes chosen by Comhar SDC to reflect their work priorities:

1.      Climate change and clean energy.
2.      Building sustainable communities.
3.      Building the green economy.
4.      Biodiversity and natural resources.

Any media organisation, journalist or student can apply for funding.  Applications for print or broadcast projects will be accepted, as well as for photographic and new media projects.  Applications that involve crossover between, or the integration of, a number of different media outlets are welcome.  Collaborative applications are also encouraged, for example, a joint application from a photographer and a print journalist.

The deadline for receipt of funding applications is 19th June 2009.

A workshop for individuals and organisations interested in applying for funding under the scheme will take place in The Digital Hub, Dublin, on 27th May 2009. Further information on this workshop - along with the guidelines and application form for the Media Fund - is available from http://www.comharsdc.ie/mediafund/index.aspx or by telephoning Comhar SDC on 01-8883990.
