RTE offers staff lump sum for time off
21 July 09
RTE is offering its staff a lump sum or part-pay to take two years off.
The move is part of the station's efforts to cut financial losses caused by a downturn in advertising. On offer is a lump sum of €20,000 or 20pc of salary during the career break. Management has sent all staff a memo asking them to consider the cost-cutting move as an alternative to potential job losses. The offer has been made to all researchers, reporters and presenters, apart from high-profile individuals such as Pat Kenny.
The offer will remain open until September 18.
