Papers merge as distribution falls

Following the news that Herald AM and Metro are merging, the Audit Bureau of Circulation has issued figures for their June circulation. Herald AM averaged distribution of 72,533 in the period, while Metro had 70,127.
Both titles saw their distribution fall year-on-year, by 9 per cent for Herald AM and 6 per cent for Metro, according to Precision Media's calculations. Herald AM attracted more advertising at 31 per cent, compared with 26 per cent for Metro. The Dublin freesheets are to combine as one title, called Metro Herald.
