RTE Radio gets 34 award nominations

RTE Radio has topped the list of nominations for the 2009 PPI Radio Awards. With 34 nominations across 18 categories, the list covers output across RTE Radio's main FM services, Radio 1, 2fm and Lyric fm.

Broadcasters Mary Wilson, Ryan Tubridy and Pat Kenny lead the nominations for Speech Broadcaster of the Year, John Murray's The Business is up for specialist speech programme, while RTE News and Current Affairs dominates the shortlist with nominations across the schedule. RTE Music output has been recognised across 2fm and Lyric fm, with documentary, sport, entertainment and specialist programming nominated from throughout the RTE Radio schedules.

RTE Radio 1 took home 10 Gold Awards at the 2008 PPIs, with RTE Radio 1 winning the National Station of the Year Award. The outstanding achievement award went to Marian Finucane.
