Nama FM- New station launching tomorrow
15 September 09
It has just been announced that a new station called Nama FM will commence broadcasting tomorrow. It will initially be available on the digital service under a special interest licence.
The station was launched by a consortium entitled FreeUp Media. The consortium is being led by Luxembourg-based entrepreneur Keavun Rodelli, who has worked as lobbyist in Brussels and a venture capitalist specialising in telecoms and radio.
The consortium was remaining tight lipped about who the presenters would be but said they would announcing a number of high profile names later today from the world of finance.
A spokesperson for the new station told Mediacontact.ie “Nama is one of the be the biggest political stories of a generation, and we wanted to dedicate a channel to solely cover it from every precievable angle.”
The new station will be taking content from established freelance journalists across Ireland. It will begin each day from 7-10am with a panel of leading academic economists looking at the effects of the Governments recovery plans on the markets. The rest of the day will be made up of a rolling panel of experts and politicians, with particular highlights the Lunchtime Power Hour and the Recovery Drive from 5-7.
“Our aim is to centralise all of the media coverage of Nama in one place. We hope this will free up the national air waves so that other broadcasters can focus on helping the national recovery through positive stories,” said a spokesperson.
He said that the new station had received very positive reaction from the political system and the communications industry. “To date much of the coverage of Nama has been very dispersed across the media and very confusing. We are starting this station because we want to concentrate the coverage of this story to help both the Irish media and the communications industry to recover from what has been a very difficult time. We hope it will also mean that other broadcast outlets will have more time to look at other aspects of our economic recovery. ”
