O'Leary exposed as Lisbon debate descends into petty squabbling
29 September 09
If you like watching Michael O'Leary making a holy show of himself, you would have enjoyed Prime Time last Thursday when he went head-to-head in a debate with Declan Ganley from Libertas, about the Lisbon Treaty.
Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of Declan Ganley's or his views, but he certainly had the upper hand in the debate.
O'Leary might have looked liked Mr Cool, standing casually with his top collar opened and his hand on his hips, but when it came down to tackling the complex issue of the Lisbon Treaty, he had nothing valuable to say.
I tuned in to watch a debate on the Lisbon Treaty, hoping it would shed some light on the matter for me and enable me to understand it a bit better.
Instead, what we got was petty squabbling and personal insults, with comments from O'Leary like 'All you are is a failed politician', and even Dana ended up in the firing line when O'Leary berated Ganley for his failure in the European elections when 'even Dana got elected'.
What this has to do with the Lisbon Treaty I have no idea. I may not have learned very much about the forthcoming Lisbon Treaty, but I did get a good laugh.
