Travel agents choose Dublin over London
24 November 09
Dublin Tourism has beaten major competitor London to win the 2010 Travel Agents Choice Award for the UK & Ireland Tourist Board.
In this category of the Travel Agents Choice Awards, UK travel agents voted for the tourist board which offers the best industry support to trade sales. Other nominees for the Best Tourist Board in the Short Haul UK & Ireland category were London, Guernsey and Jersey.
Frank Magee, chief executive of Dublin Tourism said, "Dublin Tourism recognises and values the work of agents who sell destination Dublin in the UK market. The UK has traditionally been Dublin's biggest market for tourism. 2009 has been a tough year in this market and for that reason we value the hard work of travel agents across the UK more than ever. Dublin is set to offer great value for money to visitors in 2010 and Dublin Tourism has plenty of resources to offer travel agents to make the job of selling Dublin easier and more effective."
The Travel Agents Choice Awards are organised by BMI Publications: Selling Long Haul; Short Breaks and Holidays; Travel Uni and Selling Cruising to recognise and reward the travel industry's star performers. The awards are chosen by those best placed to decide such an accolade: the UK's travel agents.
