An Ode to The Wire

Since I finished watching The Wire earlier this year, I've been pining for another TV programme that can grab my attention in the same manner. As some of you know, The Wire is arguably one of the greatest shows in TV history. I've never seen a show so complex, so rich, so raw . . . if you've seen it, I don't really need to explain. If you haven't, stop reading this post and start watching it.

The Wire was incredible on so many levels. But as I got about halfway through the series I realised something . . . The Wire was going to ruin all other dramatic television for me. True enough, since I finished the series I've been watching nothing but comedies. I simply cannot start watching another drama without thinking, "Damn. This show kinda sucks compared to The Wire."

And just as I started to get over my loss, up pops this YouTube clip of the 100 greatest quotes from the show. When I saw this it was like running into an ex for the first time. Sigh.
