Barnardos Releases

A large sum of cash was found tucked pinned inside the lining of a pair of curtains that were donated to Barnardos charity shop in Rathmines last week.

The team in Barnardos shop on Lower Rathmines Road say that the donation was made by a lady on Wednesday, 30 May last at approximately 1.30pm. They are calling for the donor to get in touch with the shop manager.

Colette Miller, Manager of Barnardos six charity shops said “We feel that she probably didn’t even know that the cash was pinned inside the curtains. We want to let her know that we found it and ask her to get in touch with us.”

Barnardos accepts donations of brand new and quality second hand clothing for men, women and children, shoes, handbags and accessories, soft furnishings, household items, books, CDs and DVDS.

“Over the years, we’ve had some unusual items donated to us from much sought after Claris Cliff art deco crockery to engagement rings, a jacket worn by Colm Meaney in the film Into the West and even grass cuttings!”

Demand for the low cost quality clothing and household items that retail in Barnardos shops is growing. In stark contrast, donations are declining.
