Mums Get Ready for The Barnardos Buggy Push!

August 14, 2012 10:00 439 views 1 comment Category: Charity

This Saturday 18th August mums are invited to come to a FREE BabyBodyFit training class in the Phoenix Park and get ready for the Barnardos Buggy Push sponsored by Dettol, a 5km challenge suitable for fun runners, walkers and more serious athletes. Babies and toddlers are welcome to come too.

Simply register for the Barnardos Buggy Push taking place on Sunday, 2nd September at www.barnardos.ie and you will receive a week-by-week training plan with exercise and nutritional information as well as tips to help you keep baby happy in their buggy, a Barnardos running vest and fundraising pack, Dettol wipes and coupons and an invitation to join the FREE training class.

Mum and International Model Alison Canavan said: “I am thrilled to be involved in this fun event. It is so hard for new mums and dads to find the time to exercise with little ones around. So training for the Barnardos 5km Buggy Push is perfect, it allows you have a work out and gently get back into shape - and your baby gets to come along for the ride! Buggy fitness is getting really popular – it’s a ready made exercise tool and really soothing for the baby – it’s a great way to meet other mums and dads too.”

The Barnardos Buggy Push is a family friendly event with ample car parking and post-race entertainment. The 5km route is suitable for every kind of buggy. Mums, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all welcome to take part. Competitive runners can make the most of having a timing chip to record a personal best, while fun runners and walkers can cover the route at a more relaxed pace and enjoy the camaraderie with other mums and dads.

Barnardos Director of Fundraising Ruth Guy said: “We hope as many parents and families as possible get involved in the Buggy Push and help us to raise vital funds for Barnardos. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors Dettol, every cent raised by participants will help us to keep our doors open and continue the work we do all over Ireland.”

Registration for the Barnardos Buggy Push is €20, visit www.barnardos.ie.
