Irish Defeat Proves Costly for Patriotic Punters

Boylesports Latest Euro 2012 Betting

Irish fans were left heartbroken last night after Trap’s Troops suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia.

Punters lost over €500,000 across the country after putting their money on the Boys In Green coming out on top according to Boylesports.

The biggest liabilities were on Robbie Keane and Richard Dunne finding the net, while there was little support on Sean St Ledger scoring. However, Boylesports refunded all first, last, and anytime goalscorer bets, easing the pain of punters.

The Republic of Ireland are now as big as 10/1 to qualify and out to 150/1 from 80/1 to the tournament. They have two mammoth tasks ahead of them against reigning European Champions Spain and Italy. They are 10/1 to see off Spain in 90 minutes, while they can be backed at 15/4 to do the same against Italy.

Sean St Ledger is now the favourite to be Top Irish Goalscorer after scoring Ireland’s only goal. Boylesports have slashed his odds into 5/4 from 33/1 to claim the credentials, while skipper Robbie Keane has drifted out to 4/1.

“Ireland faces a massive uphill challenge against two quality sides. Confidence will be down but the Irish fans optimism will certainly instil hope in the players and fingers crossed we can bounce back and defy all the odds!”, commented Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR Spokesperson.
