Boys in blue out to 4/1 to retain the sam maguire
Kerry back on track with convincing display against tyrone
Jack O’Connor asked his troops to give him a performance that would show the country his side are still right in the hunt for All-Ireland glory. On Saturday night in Killarney, all his prayers were answered. Kerry were very poor as they scraped by Westmeath and many pundits felt it wouldn’t be their year. But whenever they are written off is when the Kingdom are at their most dangerous. Tyrone were outclassed and the manner of the victory has forced Boylesports to now make Kerry the 9/4 favourites for All-Ireland glory come September.
The reigning champions Dublin faced their oldest enemies Meath in the Leinster Final at Croke Park yesterday. After an abject performance against Wexford, Pat Gilroy’s men needed to step it up a gear if they were to win another title. In the first half the passing and scoring was very slick. The Dubs raced into an eight point lead at the break, but as in previous years, the second half display was dreadful. Ireland largest independent bookmaker now makes Dublin 4/1 third favourites to lift Sam Maguire.
Donegal seem to be a team that is improving with each game. They had far too much in their locker for Down in the Ulster Final yesterday. Last year they focused on defending and were quite negative in their overall approach. This year it’s a completely different story as they racked up a score line of 2-18 in yesterday’s final. Jim McGuinness has done a tremendous job and many fancy them to go all the way at 9/2.
“Kerry have shown everybody that they have not gone away just yet with a great display over the weekend. Dublin are playing badly and still winning which is the sign of a good side, but it’s fair to say that Donegal have been the most impressive side so far in this year’s championship”, commented Leon Blanche, Boylesports Head of Communications.
