Minister Perry to present Ulster Bank Irish Franchise Association Awards 2012, RDS, Dublin
- Irish franchise industry contributes 4,086 operating units on the island of Ireland and offers 42,927 full-time jobs to the economy
Minister for Small Business, John Perry T.D., will this evening present the Ulster Bank Irish Franchise Association Awards 2012.
The Awards ceremony is the highlight of the Ulster Bank Irish Franchise Association Expo, which acts as a showcase for Irish franchisors and the franchising sector with opportunities for prospective franchisees to meet existing franchisors and seek out new business opportunities.
Speaking prior to the awards, Minister Perry said, “This award ceremony allows us the opportunity to come together in celebration of the achievements and success of Irish franchisors and reflects the remarkable growth of the franchise sector in these challenging times.
“According to the latest Irish Franchise survey, there has been a marked increase in turnover for the sector to €2.4 billion representing an increase of 15% since the last survey.
“In total the Irish franchise industry contributes 4,086 operating units on the island of Ireland and offers 42,927 full-time jobs to the economy.
“Each franchise owner is an entrepreneur and is part of our growing indigenous presence that contributes to the success of the Irish economy. I would like to acknowledge the hard work that goes into making such businesses a success and I wish to salute the vital contribution made by these franchisees.
“Entrepreneurship is the seedbed of our indigenous enterprise sector which the Government seeks to nurture and support. The Government believes that only an indigenous engine of growth will drive the economy to recovery. That is why the bulk of extra resources will be spent on supporting high potential Irish companies start up, expand, and grow to a size where they can support and grow employment in large numbers.
“All of the finalists are glowing testimony to the marked increase in turnover for the franchise sector and I wish them the very best of luck this evening and every success in their future endeavours.”
