PADDY POWER PRESS RELEASE
THE ARTIST SET TO MAKE THE MOST NOISE AT THE OSCARS
(13 February 2012) Paddy Power have today installed Jean Dujardin as the new 8/11 favourite for the ‘Best Actor’ Oscar after ‘The Artist’ star last night pipped George Clooney and Gary Oldman to the BAFTA equivalent. Clooney, who was at one stage as short as 1/3 for the gong, is now 11/10 for his role in ‘The Descendants’.
The odds would suggest that Oscar night will be a glory filled evening for ‘The Artist’ as the French romantic drama is as short as 1/10 for ‘Best Picture’ while director Michael Hazanavicius is 1/6 for ‘Best Director’.
Elsewhere, the ‘Best Actress’ category looks to be the most keenly contested award of the night with ‘The Help’ star Viola Davis the slight favourite at 4/5 closely followed by Meryl Streep who is at Evens for her BAFTA winning role in ‘The Iron Lady’.
Paddy Power said “With all the other awards ceremonies behind us the well worn eyes of the worlds movie buffs are looking towards The Oscars. There are some clear favourites in many of the categories, but it wouldn’t be an Oscar night without a few surprises.”
