Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has tipped Ireland to get their Euro 2012 campaign off to a flyer by defeating Croatia in their opening fixture.

The man known as ‘God’ to the Kop wrote in his column for the Paddy Power Blog:

“Croatia will be a tough game for Ireland but I fancy Ireland to beat them. Ireland are, by far, a better team.”

Fowler also singled out Ireland captain Robbie Keane for some praise saying:

“…you cannot argue with Robbie’s scoring, especially at international level. He’s got 53 goals in 116 games for Ireland. It’s a fantastic record. Keane will cause problems for teams in the Euros.”

The former England international finished off his column with further praise for Trapattoni’s charges predicting them to reach the quarter finals:

“I can see Ireland definitely getting out of the group and into the quarters”
