 Paddy Power have opened the betting on whether Robin Van Persie will leave Arsenal this summer after he announced that he will not sign a new contract.

After yet another average year by Arsenal, it seems that their golden boy and captain, Van Persie, is set to pack his bags and leave. According to Paddy Power it is 1/5 for the Dutch striker to leave before the 1st September while for the optimistic Arsenal supporters it is considered a 3/1 shot for him to remain at the club.

Having been named last years Premier League player of the year there is no doubt that many of the top clubs around Europe will be looking to snatch up the Dutch wonder boy in the transfer window. Paddy Power have made Manchester City the favourites at 4/11 followed by Juventus at 9/2 and Manchester United at 11/2.

Further down on the list of clubs to purchase the striker are the Spanish giants Real Madrid at 14/1 and Barcelona at 18/1. Amongst the outsiders in the betting we have Tottenham and Liverpool who are both at 80/1.

Paddy Power said “It is no surprise that Van Persie has decided not to renew his contract. With Fabregas and Nasri abandoning the club last year, he is the only world class star that remains. Man City are the clear favourites for his signature but they’ll face stiff competition for a player of Robin’s class.”
