Paddy Power Releases

Bookies Braced For Galway Betting Bonanza

July 27, 2012 14:56 471 views No comment Category: Sports

Paddy Power is estimating a whopping €40 million will be wagered next week for the seven-day Galway Festival.

And with thousands of race goers expected to flock to Ballybrit to attend the most anticipated racing festival in Ireland, Paddy Power have opened a book on just how many will attend the meeting over the week with 150,000 – 170,000 their favourite at 8/11.

But Galway isn’t just about the racing or the numbers. Paddy Power are offering a whole host of wacky wagers this year, from weather betting to festival fashion to how many choppers will ferry stylish ladies to the races.

Féilim Mac An Iomaire, spokesman for Paddy Power said: “The craic at Galway is top class and this year there’s even more of a buzz around Ballybrit. If the fine weather can hold for another week we should be in store for a glorious festival!”

Galway Fashion

Bargain Buy
Gone are the days when people spent €2000 - €3000 on an outfit for the races and now ‘en vogue’ is the ability to look understatedly fabulous in a wallet friendly way. Judges these days are taking into account the economic difficulties faced by many and are appreciating fashionistas who have an eye for a good bargain and not just an eye for fashion! As well as taking bets on what colour the Best Dressed lady will be wearing Paddy Power will this year be taking bets on the cost of the winning outfit.
