Try your hand at TV presentation with Bill Hughes and Radio Presentation with NEWSTALK’S Chris Donoghue

The Gaiety School of Acting - The National Theatre School of Ireland is running a series of workshops specific to people with an interest in the Film, TV and Radio industries over the course of the summer. The school will host a Radio Presentation workshop (21 July), a TV presentation workshop (28 July) and Casting and Audition workshop (11 August) at its premises on Essex Street West in the old quarter of Temple Bar.

These courses are to be taught by experts in each relevant field including well-known TV and Radio personalities, Bill Hughes and Chris Donoghue. These workshops will be specially tailored to people looking to enhance their skills in these specific areas but beginners are also welcome.

The Radio presentation workshop takes place on Saturday 21 July. This course will be conducted by Newstalk veteran, Chris Donoghue. This course puts you ‘on the radio’ in a number of realistic scenarios and helps you to discover your natural voice and ways to keep it alive, alert and interesting for the listener. Chris Donoghue is the presenter of Newstalk Breakfast, a three-hour current affairs program every weekday morning on Ireland’s independent national radio station, Newstalk 106-108.

The Gaiety School of Acting will also be working with internationally acclaimed television producer and director, Bill Hughes, on a TV presentation workshop on Saturday 28 July. Bill Hughes is a familiar face on the TV in Ireland and has been an independent television producer and director since 1985 making over 1000 hours of music, arts, entertainment, performance and documentary programming for RTE, ITV, BBC, PBS, CBC and ABC Australia. He co-founded Mind the Gap Films in 2001.

Casting Directors Maureen Hughes and Gillian Reynolds will also be returning to the Gaiety School this summer to conduct the ever-popular Casting and Auditioning workshop on Saturday 11 August. Maureen recently worked on the popular TV series RAW and LOVE/HATE and Gillian Reynolds has helped cast some high profile films including THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO with Guy Pearce, REIGN OF FIRE with Christian Bale, BECOMING JANE with Anne Hathoway.

Patrick Sutton, Director of the Gaiety School of Acting notes ‘We are delighted to have acquired the amazing talents of Bill, Chris, Gillian and Maureen to help deliver these interesting new workshops. This series of courses are ideal for people who are interested in media and looking to enhance their voice, presentation and delivery skills’

Bill Hughes comments ‘This will be a terrific opportunity for me to help people to relax and be themselves while getting their message across on camera. It is an exciting initiative by The Gaiety School of Acting and I am very pleased to be part of it’.
